A young Merseyside businesswoman is set to launch her own bra business after being inspired by her mother¡¯s battle with breast cancer.

Morgan Dowler has developed a range of post-surgery bras that she is launching next month.

23-year-old Morgan Dowler will officially announce her company, Love Me…(and My Secret), next month after spending two years creating the range.

It currently consists of four designs and a further eight that are ready for production, at price points of between £36 and £55.

She eventually hopes to add matching sets, swimwear and nightwear to the collection.

“It is the good coming out of something bad,” explained Dowler to the Liverpool Echo. “My mum and I have a very close bond and watching her go through what she did was the hardest thing ever. But then, seeing her afterwards trying to find a bra that was comfortable and feminine, without success, gave me the idea of finding a solution for her and other women like her.”

Morgan said her mother felt like she had lost a lot of her femininity when she had her mastectomy and it affected her confidence and stopped her wanting to go out.

“It didn’t help that when she was looking for bras post-surgery there were only a handful available, often hidden in a corner so you have to ask for them, and they tend to be black or white, and very plain,” she said.

She subsequently carried out lots of research before developing a range of bras and finding a manufacturer to produce them. All of them are lined, and made from organic cotton.

“They are so soft so any scars that rub against them don’t get irritated, they have pockets in so you can place a pad in if it is before reconstruction or to ensure an even match and they are supportive and won’t go out of shape. There is cushioning which also ensures that if you have lost one nipple any difference won’t show, the straps are thinner than those currently available and one can be fastened at the front for when it is too painful for women to reach behind, but at the back too.”

Love Me…(and My Secret) plans to donate 10% of profits to Breast Cancer Research.

The official launch of the company will take place on March 2 at Liverpool’s Hard Days Night hotel.
