As the opening ceremony in Beijing Fashion Week, renowned local lingerie manufacturer Aimer launched its Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show, in which a handcrafted brassiere made by sheer gold and embedded over 160 diamonds drew great attention from the participant.
At very first glance, this bra, with decoration with gorgeous golden laces, looks so lightweight and soft that you are barely able to connect it with gold, whereas you are definitely capable to detect its real weight by your hand. This tiny little piece of intimate wear almost weighs 0.5 kilogram, which is entirely handmade by gold thread.
Designed by Aimer design director general Hongyu Zhang and produced by jewelry master Ningqin Zhou and five of his assistants, this master piece of art spends over half a year to accomplish. It boasts a perfect combination of complicated and sophisticated craftsmanship, such as Chinese traditional embroidery and European lace knitting, and advanced and modern technology.
465 grams gold thread reaches 500 meters long together, each of which is as tiny as a piece of hair. Furthermore, it also enjoys over 30 different lace patterns
"Chinese traditional craftsmanship, international perspective gained from years of oversea study and preciseness of the institution are three indispensable elements in this divine design", Zhou said.
"It is a pioneering work for Aimer to manufacture a brassiere by gold. By making this hand-knitted gold bra, we are trying to deliver a brand new life concept to the public", Zhang Said. (Translated by Wilson)
