So you may be curious about why, you may be curious about how Chantelle deals with the economic crises and how Chantelle explore Chinese market… Here, globalintimatewear.com will go with you to find out more secrets about Chantelle.

Q1: We found that Chantelle showed up at Shanghai Lingerie Mode nearly each year. What’s the role of this exhibition playing in Chantelle’s development plan in the Asian-Pacific market?

Actually, we are attending the Shanghai fair for many reasons. First of all, the Shanghai city is a trend setter for fashion in China. This is the place where we can see the development of the market and of the brands. This is interesting for us to see what we can do, especially when we will enter the market as now we are not really enter the market.

We want to do it at the right time and we consider the time is coming very fast. Again, this is the place where we can decide to go or not. But this regard is only to the Chinese market, not to the all Asian Pacific because we consider and hope we are right that China is very different from Taiwan, Korea, Japan or Australia. This is separated in our strategy.

Q2. Does the severe economic situation affect the export of Chantelle’s products? What’s your strategy to deal with this situation?

Of course the economic situation is affecting the state, especially in the South Europe. The Chantelle’s group is strong as we have 4 brands, and also we are international. So when it goes down somewhere, we have some expectation somewhere else. Especially in this year, our Asian business and Russian business are both growing. So we are balancing more leisure risks.

Secondly, we are very active. We’ve investigated a lot. Recently we’ve acquired the Chantal Thomass brand and other companies in Norway and in Europe. We are investigating more and more brands to face the difficulties we see in other markets. So we are very offensive as we believe that the crisis is the crisis but we can always overcome this situation.

Q3. Many foreign brands regard China as their “life buoy”, so they enter the market of China and even shift their focus from overseas to China. What’s your opinion on this point?

It’s not our strategy. We don’t consider that China would save our business. It could be an additional business with high potential. But we are still investigating the other parts of the world.

As we mentioned that the crisis is here and there, so we have to gain new market chance everywhere. We consider China as a new market to be conquered but not a saver.

Q4: Why did Chantelle choose Taiwan as its first branch located in Asia?

You know the strategy in some ways are also made of opportunities, so we opened our branch 15 years ago in Taipei. Actually it’s a great success. We thought it an opportunity to be there for the people and the culture. Besides, Taipei is quite a sophisticated market place since many years. We considered that maybe our brands would grow faster in this part of Asia than in other parts. I think we are right because we are very successful there.

Q5: Is it possible that that we’ll see more Asian branches located in China?

Yes, of course, you know China is a major future market so we gotta come here. We have to come here with strong investment and certainly in a few years we’ll have our own branches in China. It may be in partnership or other forms according to the conditions, but we’ll come for sure.
