Underwear, alcohol, pets and beauty treatments are high on UK consumer's shopping lists, survey finds

An in-depth study by research group Mintel found that although households in UK have tightened their wallets during the downturn, they still remain the level of long-term spending. With many concerned about their financial and job security, the survey found that underwear, alcohol, pets and beauty treatments are on high on consumer shopping lists.

The study revealed that demand for clothing and accessories in UK enjoyed a small increase that equates to £750 per head, reached to £46.2bn last year. And it is surprised to find that the sales of underwear also increased 1% last year, which is twice than that of the wider clothing market. However, more and more people tend to restock fast fashion and affordable underwear from retailers like Marks & Spencer than designer lingerie brands.
